주다스 프리스트는 1969년 영국 버밍엄에서 K. K. 다우닝과 글렌 팁튼에 의해 결성된 헤비 메탈 밴드이다.

주다스 프리스트는 현재의 헤비 메탈 사운드와 이미지, 패션을 만들어낸 주인공이자 일인자로서 알려져 있다.

1980년 발표한 ‘British Steel’에서 스스로 메탈 갓을 선언하고 이후 그것이 통칭이 된다
